Our Whakapapa

Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust (KFST) has been in operation since 1999. The service was established by Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust, who continue to govern the organisation today.

KFST was founded through a tripartite partnership between Maatua Whāngai o Kirikiriroa, Specialist Education Services, and Te Kohao Health, formed to deliver the Family Start programme across Hamilton City. This partnership was grounded in a shared belief that strong, thriving tamariki sit at the heart of strong whānau and communities.

From its inception, KFST has existed to uplift and empower individuals, recognising that when individuals are supported to flourish, their whānau and wider communities are strengthened in turn. This belief continues to shape our work today.

Our vision, Tamariki Tū Tamariki Ora, reflects our unwavering commitment to tamariki wellbeing and long-term outcomes. It speaks to tamariki being supported to stand strong, live well, and reach their potential within safe, nurturing whānau and communities. This vision guides how we design services, work alongside whānau, and make decisions, ensuring tamariki are always at the centre of what we do, now and into the future.

KFST is governed by a Board of Trustees who provide strategic oversight and stewardship of the Trust:

  • Rachel Stephenson – Board Chair
  • Hinemoerangi Ngatai Tangirua
  • Toni Welch
  • Erin Watt-Rangi

The Board can be contacted via email at BoardOfChair@kfst.org.nz.
